Sara and Yuta met and fell in love when they both worked at this one Japanese restaurant in Melbourne. There was talk about thier future together and what kind of wedding they would have. "We even went to design the engagement ring together!" Sara shares.

the proposal...

While we chose the engagement ring together, it was a secret to Sara as to when the ring will be made, completed and collected by Yuta. Shortly after, we had another lockdown so Sara really didn’t know whether the ring had already been made or if she will have to wait longer.

Yuta proposed on our 5th anniversary in October when Melbourne was still in lockdown. Yuta cooked a little feast for dinner, and we were both full and happy late at night. Sara was lying down on the bed when Yuta came over to the side of the bed and started talking about random things, which was unusual since he’s not a huge talker. He then put the blanket over both our heads so we were talking undercover. He then opened the ring box, which slightly blinded me since I didn’t have my glasses on and there’s a mini light inside the box to show off the diamond! We both ended up laughing about the whole situation, but next thing Sara knew, Yuta got up and said in Japanese something along the lines of ‘let’s get married’ or ‘shall we get married’.

the venue

Definitely the food and drinks! The location is also special to us. We got to know each other after work over drinks at Boilermaker House.

the most important thing you wanted to have at your wedding

We wanted the day to comfortable and laid back but also special to us. We wanted all our family and friends to enjoy great food and drinks together!

faaaaave moment...

Hard to choose!

For Yuta, it was when we first saw each other before the wedding ceremony. It was intimate, quiet … definitely eased our nerves. Glad our photographers, Deshani and Stefan, recommended doing a first look and the location they chose was perfect!

faaaave wedding detail...

Boilermaker House prepared a customised menu for us, which we both loved. We’re still disappointed in each other that we didn’t take one with us!

advice

Don't worry about all the details and think about what's most important to you.

wedding songs...

Walked down the ‘aisle’ to Perfect by Ed Sheeran

stand out vendor/s for the day...

We loved all our Vendors! They were all amazing and very on top of everything to ensure our wedding day ran smoothly.

Grateful to have found The Berhardts as our photographers! I think we would have been lost without their guidance and ideas as we were very clueless bride & groom. We also really enjoyed their photos and their presence.

Special shout out to Lucy from Boilermaker House and Sara from French Saloon for making the wedding planning stress-free and all of their team for making our wedding wonderful.

We pretty much left the flowers up to Claire from The Road Stall as well, and we're so glad we did! The flowers were beautiful and everything was set up when we arrived at the venue. She even gave me a call the day before about how to take care of my bouquet.

Same with Mel from Melebrate Good Times! She was considerate and made the whole process simple & easy for us.
