The floral concept was heavily inspired by English summer gardens and their abundant and rambling nature.
Think gorgeous stone churches with rambling gardens. "Our initial concept for this shoot was to bring a soft and feminine touch to the barn to contrast the gorgeous timber and stone work both on the fireplace and throughout the rest of the room." Kristy tells - Maple Wedding and Events
inspiration.
The floral choice of dahlias, hydrangeas and summer roses as well as deciduous summer greenery were all a nod to the gorgeous blooms you see throughout Britain in the warmer months. Once the floral concept was confirmed we opted to compliment these with beautiful soft linen tablecloths and napkins as well as pastel candles both on the tables and throughout the room. The final touch was the unique lighting installations above the dining tables and fireplace to give a little bit of a different style.
highlights.
The biggest highlight is always the amazing people we get the chance to collaborate and create with. There’s nothing like teaming up with vendors you admire and putting your ideas together to come up with something that you are all super proud of. This was certainly one of those times. Given the unfortunate circumstance of Covid one major highlight for us is that we are all united. It's beautiful to see everyone work together as a community to pull something so beautiful off even in the most unfortunate events.
We had to scramble on the day to find models, dresses and a few other vendors to pull off this magic as some vendors were coming from Brisbane and not able to make it. WIthin 4 hours we had pulled a team of locals together to create such beauty. It makes us happy to know that Sunshine Coast wedding vendors always stick together and make things happen.
We came up against the most unfortunate circumstance of events when delivering this concept. This garden of love was formulated and designed specifically for thousands of people to see for themselves at the Sunshine Coast Hinterland Summer Showcase in January 2021. Unfortunately the day we started to implement this and set up, Brisbane encountered a Covid lockdown for 5 days, which left us all very disheartened and to be honest out of pocket a lot of money. With no showcase and no visitors we opted not to let this drag us down.
With Brisbane in lockdown some of the suppliers who were collaborating with us couldn't make it. As a team we banded together in the rain to ensure we could still bring our vision to life and sourced local suppliers within hours to come and work with us all. The Old Dairy Maleny has incredible and extensive lawn areas with amazing hinterland sunsets that would have been wonderful to include however were limited with the constant rain so we put all our emphasis on the Barn itself. The Barn is such a gorgeous space that is so versatile we managed to get quite and few different looks in a single room alone.
venue.
The team was going to be part of the Sunshine Coast Hinterland Summer's Showcase and be featured at The Old Dairy Maleny. We all chose to exhibit our works here as the venue is one of those places you fall in love with the instant you descend down the driveway. It’s extensive manicured lawns, sprawling buildings and just simple yet elegant beauty draw you back time and time again. It is an iconic Hinterland venue that we all adore and love every time we work here. fave detail.
As a collective we can't decide on a particular favourite detail as each supplier contributed their own unique and beautiful concept. The colour palette with soft tones is always a winner, blended with the florals, stationary, the space in which we create and of course the femine bridal gown. Every detail was truly breathtaking.
fave moment.
We each agreed that the most memorable part of the day was overcoming all the obstacles and hurdles and being on site creating and knowing we all had each other's backs. It was an extremely tough day for all wedding suppliers especially after 2020 and to kick off 2021 in such a way was quite devastating professionally. Hands down the fun of creating and banding together was the most memorable moment.
To think in a pandemic, we can still pivot and create is unforgettable in our eyes.
Working at such an accommodating venue is always helpful and makes our time as creatives even more special. Though this day had a lot of challenges it had more positive highlights and this is reflected in our beautiful gallery.
