Bo & Luca, Civil. Adapting with the Times.
The pandemic has wrought changes in all spheres of our lives, including the celebration of marriage. Some brides have elected to postpone their weddings indefinitely while others have opted for a simpler, pared down ceremony. Growing rapidly in popularity recently is the Civil Ceremony which is more intimate and affordable and relatively fuss-free.
Bo & Luca have recognised this emerging trend and are proud to showcase their aptly named "Civil, by Bo & Luca" range. This comprehensive range features French lace and luxurious silky smooth crepe worked in more tailored styles but balanced with feminine ruffles to add a romantic touch; cast your mind back to movie memories of 70's courthouse weddings and you will grasp Creative Director's Shannon Pittman's inspiration. A wide-leg jumpsuit is as tempting as a minidress with a scalloped lace hem or is diverted by a simple lace dress with a tiered skirt which looks so effortless it seems to say "I just woke up this morning and decided we would get married today" - - no fuss, no drama. A gorgeous form-fitting lace dress is more formal and evokes the mood of an Italian countryside wedding.
Being a small team meant that Bo & Luca were able to interact closely with brides and retailers which provided key insights into evolving trends. Shannon shares, "This collection was inspired by the "every bride", she's been through one tough year but still celebrates the joys of marriage and unions. Our focussed keywords that drove this collection (and carried through all aspects of our work in 2020) were Adaptability and Flexibility.
Perhaps one of the most exciting drawcards for this collection is that lead-times are shortened, with each gown requiring roughly three months to create. This collection is perfect for the bride getting married at short notice, and being available to shop exclusively online, means that brides from around the world have access to these gowns.
This Civil ceremony range is less formal than the traditional wedding gown, and so these items can be reworn to other occasions, something which many eco-conscious brides value. While many have hopes that one day 'elaborate gatherings' will resume, these intimate Civil Ceremonies hold a place of value as their accompanying re-wearable bridal looks may just be the way of the future - time will tell.
