how did the two of you meet? We met when Emma literally hit on me at a bar in Melbourne. Unfortunately, it was with her bag as I was intruding on her dance moves that required a lot of space. After that, it was hard for me to keep my eyes off her. After a little more Dutch courage, I went over and introduced myself. After a night of dancing with the hottest girl that I have ever met, I was lucky enough to get her number.
As we were living 1,000 kms apart at the time (me in Adelaide and Emma in Melbourne), I put all my effort into getting to know her and eagerly waited for her texts. One time I was driving home from work which would normally take 30 mins ended up taking 3 hours as every time she replied to a message I’d pull over and spend 15 minutes trying to think of something witty to reply. This meant I would only drive a km or so before pulling over again to reply.
how long were you together before your engagement? We met in August 2016 while Isaac was living in Adelaide and I was living in Melbourne. We took turns flying over to spend weekends together and the Sunday night goodbyes at the airport never got any easier! Our relationship was long distance until I made the move over to Adelaide in March 2018.
the proposal: Isaac surprised me with a weekend away to Melbourne for what I presumed was our 2-year anniversary of being together. He took me to the small cottage called Bolobek in Mount Macedon where I took him on his first visit to Melbourne after we met. It’s a big beautiful property where we had already shared many happy memories. He had organised a picnic with wine and we walked down to the private lake. Isaac then gave me what I thought was my anniversary present. It was a small beautifully crafted wooden puzzle box that he designed and spent 2 months making.
He created it so that the pendant he had given me for our 1-year anniversary was the key to unlock step one. I love puzzles so was so excited to solve it and when I did, a ring popped out! Isaac picked up the ring, got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. Isaac designed the ring himself with a similar pattern to my anniversary pendant. He had a family friend, who is a jeweller, make the ring. It was all very personal and tied together with so much meaning and beauty that I was blown away.
what led you to decide on your Wedding venue? We always knew we wanted to get married in Mount Macedon. It is a special place to the both of us and where our relationship really took hold and grew. We both love nature and wine so it was a no brainer!
favourite moment: Spending time together during our sunset photos was a highlight for both of us. It was so fun and relaxing. We were able to take a breath and be in the present moment together. It helped that our first sunset as
husband and wife was spectacular! Being surrounded by friends and family and getting to party with them all at once was also our favourite part of the day. Isaac also mentioned that first seeing me coming down the aisle was one of his favourite parts.
favourite details: The laser designs that Isaac custom made, especially the ones of my pendant. They were beautiful personal touches that we were able to add to the space. I also loved the big piece of timber that Isaac made out of a cut from a burned tree that he got during his work with the bushfire recovery effort. He lasered in a design and we displayed it in the reception space.
how was your dress/suit shopping experience overall? I flew back to Melbourne for a weekend and rallied my bridesmaids. We spent a whole day searching for the dress and I narrowed it down to two, both from
Mariana Hardwick. I had a clear idea in my head of how I wanted it to look so I think that helped. I tried on some other styles because people told me not to discount certain materials and designs without trying them on. So I tried them on, but at no surprise to me I didn’t like them haha. I went back a couple of days later and picked the one! I got a few opinions from other people and even had a vote between the two, but in the end, went with the one I felt better in and I’m so glad I did.
what resources did you find helped you the most during your Wedding planning? Advice from our vendors! Especially our photographer

Mount Macedon Winery. They were a wealth of knowledge and experience that we drew from in making decisions and planning every aspect of the day.
what does marriage mean to you? A commitment to spend the rest our lives with our best friend.
classic story: The boys had some wardrobe issues on the day of the wedding and actually went shopping that morning to buy a whole new suit for the best man! This was kept secret from the bride which given my nerves on the day, I think was a good choice...
advice: Check that suits fit a few days before the wedding… Try not to sweat the small stuff. No one notices and it’s stress you don’t need.

Erin! They were both so great to work with and were just fun to hang out with. They helped with so much on the day, from Erin getting me a champagne after the ceremony to Ali flicking cow poo out of our path as we traipsed across the paddock for our sunset photos! We feel so lucky to have had both of them there and know that they helped to make the day what it was.
