Gabi and Marc met at Moore River. Marc’s family brought the house next door to Gabi's family’s holiday home. Together for five years before Marc proposed in Moore River. He involved their beloved dog Baloo by putting a sign on him asking if ‘Gabi would marry Marc’. Marc had then organised both their families to come up for dinner that night as a surprise celebration.
What led you to decide on your Wedding venue?
We wanted a venue that could fit our large guest list! And a venue that we could BYO some aspects (beverages, traditional cannoli dessert and Italian biscuits). It was also important that we could create the atmosphere we wanted.
How long did it take for you to find and how was your dress/suit shopping experience overall?
Dress: I initially got caught up in the more commercial wedding dress idea but then quickly realised that it wasn't what I wanted. It made me feel anxious rather than excited.
I then found Mae – she made the whole experience so lovely. She is very talented, made it exciting and I completely trusted her. I was able to relax and enjoy the process. One of the best parts of the day was my dress in the end – it was just what I wanted and it’s all thanks to Mae.
Suit: All the boys were dressed in semi-formal/causal manner, sourced from Politix.
What advice would you offer to other couples planning a Wedding?
Know that all the arguments you have and challenges you face are just a great opportunity to learn more about each other and your families and good practice for what’s to come in the years ahead. And the challenges are never the end of the world - although it may feel like it at the time!
If you don't thrive and love organisation and design and don't have the time - get a wedding stylist/planner (that are highly recommended) as they can truly make the months/years of planning and the actual day so much more enjoyable.
No big events in life turn out exactly how you think they will. So go with the flow and let go of expectations (even though yes it can be hard when so much money is being spent!).
Any stand out vendors for the day? Someone that went above and beyond?
Katie and Erica from DUO events Creative Studio
Wedding songs
Aisle: “The Blowers Daughter” by Damien Rice
Recessional: “This will be” by Natalie Cole
First Dance: “Cant take my eyes off you” by Frankie Vali

What resources did you find helped you the most during your Wedding planning?
Katie and Erica (from DUO events Creative Studio) they made everything so much easier. Initially when caught up in all the decisions we had to make and how much money everything costs we didn't know if a wedding stylist/planner was the way to go – seemed it was something we may be able to ‘save money on’. However, picking them was the best decision we made. They were able to put our ideas into an actual plan and then reality and they were transparent through the whole process. They were upfront and honest and thought of things we didn't even know we had to think of! They cut back on things to lower costs and found compromises when we really needed to. They were prepared for anything! they really took all the stress out of the entire event.
At the end we, our families and guests were all in awe of how helpful and worth every cent their services were for the day. We couldn't recommend them highly enough.
