Holly & Alvin met at church one - they immediately bonded over their faith and shared love for rnb/soul music, late-night bakery runs, psychological thrillers, and quirky cafés.

"Alvin proposed to me on my 24th birthday - I was not expecting it! We went out to dinner with my family to celebrate my birthday and then he said we needed to stop by his place. He handed me the keys and told me to go ahead of him. When I opened the door the hallway was lined with candles and perfectly placed greenery.

I remember my eyes welling up with tears as my heart began to beat fast wondering what would happen next. He had decorated the room with fairy lights, metallic balloons, and polaroids capturing the memories of our relationship - it was so magical! I could hear one of our favourite songs playing (Set It Off by Bryson Tiller) and we danced together for a little bit. Before I knew it, he was on one knee asking if I would spend the rest of my life with him. With tears streaming down my face I said yes! It was such a beautifully, intimate moment." Holly tells.

Becoming inseparable for the following year and a half before Alvin proposed, the two both loved the idea of a cosy winter wedding at Holly's mum's suggestion of The Hotel Richmond.

"We loved the hardwood floors, marble bar, beautiful ornate windows, roaring fireplace & detailed ceilings. It had such a beautiful feel & the staff were beyond amazing so it wasn’t a difficult decision. We both envisioned our wedding to be elegant and classic. My dress had a 1920’s Gatsby vibe, and Alvin’s suit was formal and dapper.

The whole day was filled with love, joy, and laughter. I remember one moment when we were in the Botanic Park having some photos taken. It was a special place because my parents had gotten married there and some close family friends also. It was the first time since the ceremony that we really had a moment alone. We walked hand in hand across the park and the sun shone through the trees. The lighting felt magical and I remember it hit me in that moment - we were now husband and wife!" Holly tells.

"Marriage means never giving up on someone, sharing your life with them through the ups and downs, always encouraging and supporting them to be the best version of themselves"

"Our florist created this beautiful wall of peppercorn greenery that we got married in front of. It looked so lush and smelled incredible! We had a lot of funny moments throughout the day including hilarious speeches, a phone going off in the ceremony, our DJ randomly playing “Highway to Hell” to a room full of mostly Christians haha! We were constantly laughing and never took anything too seriously.

ADVICE: Don’t allow others or tradition to influence how you celebrate your special day. Spend time on the things that matter most to you & showcase your unique style. Don’t stress over the details because in the end this day is about you marrying the love of your life - so enjoy it!
