Sam and Angie met back in 2012, a couple of weeks after Angie had arrived in Australia from the UK and instantly had a strong connection, although it wasn’t until later that year that they became an item. "Things moved along swiftly applying for a visa for me to stay in Australia, our surprise first daughter in 2015 and a puppy 2 weeks before she was born to Sam proposing in 2016 with our first daughter Arlah on the beach. Since then we had our second daughter Ellenor in 2018, then decided it
was time to plan our wedding!" Angie tells.

Tell us about the proposal: We were doing our usual favourite dog walk at the beach with our daughter Arlah and dog Ollie , it was the most perfect sunset, I turned around to Sam holding Arlah with a piece of paper reading "Will you marry my daddy?” written on it. Sam got down on one knee and asked me to marry him.

What led you to decide on your Wedding venue? We were set on an outdoor wedding as we both love nature and began looking at many venues quite south of Perth when we came across Baldivis Farm Stay. It was perfect on so many levels! It had everything we wanted and the option to use their styling services made it so much easier.

What was the inspiration behind your Wedding theme? I love vintage boho and our stylist Jess, had quite a range of persian rugs, vintage suitcases, trinkets, macrame and loads more. We brought along Sam’s grandmas chase and grandpa’s chair as it suited the style and it had a piece of them there. It was important to us for our wedding to be personal to us and we made sure there were touches of family everywhere.

Your most favourite moment of the day: My most favourite moment was, after all the stress and lead up, getting down the aisle and holding Sam’s hand - it took away all the anxiety. Also loved the reaction to our first dance and getting through it without completely messing it up! We only had two lessons and then Sam went back to work for 2 weeks, so there was no time to rehearse but everyone loved it and came straight onto the dancefloor for the next dance.

What was your favourite detail/s about the day? My favourite details were the naked tepee, the bouquets and vases with flowers in from Wee Bonnie Blooms - and our cake was also delicious.

What does marriage mean to you? Two people in love creating a family full of adventures, the ups, the downs, the compromises, the constant asking for more puppies knowing one day you’ll get a yes. Forever learning from each other and evolving, respecting each other’s individual wants and needs as well as a couple....creating endless memories that hopefully one day you'll both be soo old and wrinkly you can look back on and laugh and love together.

Any classic stories you want to share from the day? When Sam was saying his vows he misworded “from the moment I first laid eyes on you" with “from the moment I first laid on you” which definitely broke the ice with everyone and lightened the mood for the rest of the day. Thankfully everyone laughed!

What advice would you offer to other couples planning a Wedding? If you're not an organised person like me and can afford it, hire a planner or coordinator for the day to make sure everyone knows what is going on and that things are where they need to be. There was a few things missed and a bit unorganised. You want to be able to just sit back and take it all in, it’s your special day and it’s over within a blink. Enjoy every moment - even the organising, as stressful as it may be, the lead up, the day, no matter what happens and the after! If you're not going on a honeymoon make sure you plan a night to just reflect and enjoy each other’s company.

Any stand out vendors for the day?

100% Emma MacAulay Photography - to receive our preview photos the next day was amazing, but completely took us back with how beautiful they were! Emma made the experience completely relaxed, fun and personal. She captured all the feels of the day from the nerves, the laughs, all the love and every moment in between that we didn’t have time to take in. Anyone can take photos but what Emma does is truly a gift!

If I could have her document my life I would 100% haha - Also our caterer Lenny's Butchers, we could have gone with a standard wedding caterer and heard great reviews about Lenny's. They surpassed my expectations and the only disappointment I had was that we missed out on the tapas of oysters covered in champagne and all sort of yummies everyone was raving about. Then our evening meal was so delicious, the meat so tender people were overfilling their plates. You will not be disappointed with them.

Our florist Ashely, really deserves recognition for doing such a beautiful job with the bouquets and table vases - they were amazing! And smelt absolutely divine. The boys forgot their pinholes which we were devastated about as they were also beautiful. Ashley really listened to what I wanted and what colors we were using, she was super easy to work with and I was lucky enough to get mothers day flowers too. She's such a beautiful person that has a super special gift to put together the most amazing blooms that really stood out in the photos on the day!

Reception venue & decor Baldivis farm stay The reception area at Baldivis is perfect as it flows on from the ceremony, we used the large barn for our tables for dinner and to serve the food and desert from. They had set up an outdoor dance floor out of persian rugs which I always wanted( although we hadd to move inside when the rain came through) there is a built bar and shelter for the photo booth. We used Sam’s grandma’s chase and chair which she had left to me when she had passed away. Wee loved having Baldivis as our venue.

We used Baldivis stylist Jess for our styling, she was great to work with, very reasonably priced with plenty of options and customisation available to use. It was easy to bring along extra decor and let her know what we wanted to do with it. The synthetic flowers on the arbour and dotted around the area complimented the real flowers. Jess did an amazing job - exactly what I had envisioned.
