Jenna and Luke met in 2010 Together for 5 epic years when they were working at the same clinic in Hawthorn. The Podiatrist and Myotherapist always got along well. Even their colleagues could see the potential, and kept hinting about them being a perfect match.
When it was time to change jobs, Luke made sure he got Jenna’s number so they could continue to catch up. The two took an early walk to their favourite spot in Inverloch at the Bluff on a bueatiful September Saturday morn, when Luke dropped the dicky knee at the top of the walking trail overlooking Anderson’s inlet (also with the company of their dog, Stitch).
It couldn’t have been a more perfect morning - the sun was shining and the tide was in! It certainly was happy days! Jenna was so shocked she completely froze for about 10 seconds. Luke was unsure what she was going to say until she eventually said ‘my head is full of liquid’ (trying not to cry).
Jenna grew up on acreage in South Gippsland and always dreamt of heading back to the grass roots for a country wedding. As a bonus, both of their parents were living in Inverloch, so it all just felt right for them! "The venue had to fit around the incredible Tipi that we had in mind for us to create our ultimate WedFest! Things literally fell into place. The owners of Devil Dams were all on board with our ideas and having the Tipi on the open grass, and were just as excited for our upcoming WedFest!
We wanted to create a party celebration that reflected the two of us as a couple. Our theme was a bohemian, rustic WedFest with a giant Tipi, fairy lights, candles, Australian natives, and our famous home made haybale Bride & Groom! Our big feature was the Tipi! (We kept this as a surprise for our guests). The band was set up at the back and everyone danced the night away under the open Tipi. Just before the ceremony we had a ‘good luck’ light shower of rain, and out of nowhere there were several hands pinning down the tipi, and just as many setting it back up once the rain had passed. It made everything stress free knowing we had great guests who were prepared to chip in and help." Jenna + Luke said.
Favourite moment of the day: Speeches were awesome - short but very sharp, so everyone appreciated them. They finished before 8pm which left about 4.5 hours of uninterrupted dancing and drinks! There were many highlights and laughs when all of a sudden the live band turned into karaoke. Great memories!
What does marriage mean to you? Marriage to us means; a team, your own personal team! A commitment to your best mate. Someone you love, support and laugh with every day. Marriage means you can’t be mad at each other for too long! Communicate and work it out together. The best advice given: “Get to like the things you don't like about each other. It’s never that bad”Were there any funny stories from the day? Yes - when our dog jumped into the lake just as the Bride and Bridesmaids were arriving at the ceremony! Also Jenna and her Dad thinking they would be tricky, and enter the aisle from a different entrance from the Bridesmaids.... but started entering before the Bridesmaids and our nephews had finished walking out! Whoops haha. It made for a good laugh. Our celebrant, Sally, getting up on the mic and smashing out her high energy rendition of Mustang Sally! And, Luke thanking the ‘wider community’ in his Wedding speech!
Tell us about your dress! My dress experience was a pretty easy one, and super fun! I always had my eye on a Grace Loves Lace dress - Hollie. Mum and I booked flights up to Burleigh Heads and made a weekend of it. At the appointment, we were sipping champagne at 8.30am and FaceTiming my Bridesmaids - sisters and cousin who couldn’t be there. It felt like they were there to share the special time with me! I tried on 3 beautiful dresses leaving the Hollie until last... however, as soon as I tried on the second dress, the ‘Paloma’ it definitely took the lead and felt like ‘the dress’ - off the shoulder, with scalloped lace edge. Before we left, mum decided to try on a dress she was eyeing off, and ended up walking away with her beautiful mother of the Bride dress! Win win!
Do you have any advice for other couples planning a Wedding? Take a moment to enjoy the day - we promised we would, and amongst all the talking and dancing, we caught up with each outside the Tipi and just had a look around together and had a chance to take it all in... everyone was drinking, laughing and dancing, and we now have a vivid snapshot of that great moment! Also, don’t sweat the small stuff. No one knows those festoon lights that turned up 3 months after your wedding were meant to be hanging from the Tipi. Just have fun and be in the moment!
Did you have any stand out vendors for the day? The owners of the facility we hired went above and beyond - they not only provided delicious tapas style food and drinks, but let us have the run of the whole golf course. They didn’t mind how much room we took up or how late we went into the night/early morning, so it made the whole experience very cruisey and fun! And our families! We wanted to have our family involved and to bring two families together as one. Each family member was involved in our WedFest in a very special and memorable way.

First dance: We wanted to make this one fun! We certainly aren’t a serious couple, we love to laugh with each other (and at each other) and to have fun! We started off with the traditional slow dance to Perfect - Ed Sherran (secretly not really knowing what we were doing) then 30 seconds in we cracked into Higher & Higher - Jimmy Barnes to a dance we had made up ourselves a few days before our wedding day. Seemed to go down pretty well with the guests, and something we still laugh at today.
