"We converted a large garden space into a tropical oasis and requested everybody wore white... the photos prove just how good this turned out!" Issy & Harry
Tell us a little bit about the proposal: Growing up by the beach we spend any spare time we have enjoying the sun and salt up and down the coast. Feeling the need for a getaway we packed up the car and headed up to our little slice of paradise - Seal Rocks. Harry (my now husband) requested that I grab some snacks to make a cheese board that afternoon strange I thought seeing as he doesn’t particularly like cheese boards but I certainly do so was all over it! We hired a little beach shack that sits on the cliff at Sealies with panoramic water views, whilst I was enjoying a G&T and cheese board to myself I was blissfully unaware that he was behind me on one knee, I had the shock of my life but was filled with so much excitement... a memory I will keep forever! What led you to decide on your Wedding venue? I wanted a relaxed tropical vibe with a setting of palms and greenery, with a turnaround time of 3 months we decided to use my parent in laws garden!! Packed with luscious plants, palms and agaves it set the tone perfectly for what both myself and Ash my wedding stylist needed – we converted a large garden space to a tropical oasis and requested everybody wore white... the photos prove just how good this turned out!
What was the inspiration behind your Wedding theme? I have always loved the simplicity yet beauty of white it’s a staple in my life and wanted to create an overall theme for my wedding so with tropical greenery filling the backdrop and everyone wearing white it felt like we were on an ultimate summer holiday with 140 of our closest friends. We threw tradition out the window and walked down the aisle together while my dad played acoustics on the guitar – he’s a musician and I have spent my life listening to him play that felt more special to me than being walked down by him, we also did all our wedding photos an hour before the ceremony started so we could spend s much time as possible with our friends and families one the reception had kicked off!

What was your favourite detail about the day? We didn’t want a traditional arbour for the ceremony so instead opted for a white mesh screen which we covered in white roses, orchards and hydrangeas, the garden was filled with pots of white flowers and the lower deck had a lush setting of palms and greenery dispensed from the ceiling!
Tell us about your dress! My dress was custom made by Christie Nicole Bridal, she is AMAZING! I contacted her just after Christmas with a tight turnaround time and immediately we went into full design mode... I wanted something simple with a heavy silk and a long train we then threw in a 3 metre veil for fun. The process with Christie was flawless, in total we had 6 fittings and her attention to detail was amazing!
Favourite moment of the day: Every moment was a favourite but I can narrow it down to 2: I loved the ceremony; we kept it short and sweet it was such a special moment. Straight after the party kicked off with live music pumping and all our guests were able to dance the night away whilst drinking Mojito’s the perfect touch on what was a 33 degree day... I remember standing back with my partner to take a moment, seeing everyone you love there to celebrate with you is truly an amazing experience.

What does marriage mean to you? To me marriage means falling in love lots of times, always with the same person, it’s having a lifelong partner that will experience all your highs and all your lows. With marriage comes compromise especially when accepting that your wife will always have a shopping addiction!
Any funny stories from the day? I forgot to walk down the aisle with my Bouquet!!

Advice for other couples planning a Wedding? Make sure you have a clear vision of what you want on the day, enjoy the process and don’t get caught up on the little things... bringing a Wedding together takes an army!
Any stand out vendors for the day? Someone that went above and beyond? PocoUno Events was incredible - Ash planned the event from start to finish and was there ensuring the night ran flawlessly. Alma Mexican catered the Wedding which complimented the Mojito’s served all night long and a selection of Mexican beers my partner insisted on having, all in all a perfect night!!
What are your thoughts on the photo gallery of your day? We had Hunter Manuel shoot our Wedding and from the get go he captured our relaxed vibe, we gave him a short amount of time to capture our Wedding photos and the results were nothing short of amazing! When I received the Wedding album I was blown away, he had so beautifully photographed every moment and I love that I can go back and relive the day through his photography!
