Did you know leading up to it that Harry was going to propose?
No, but I was hoping he was! We had planned a trip to Tasmania to celebrate our 7 year anniversary and I was thinking surely it would be happening then. It was definitely a surprise when we proposed a few days before the holiday though as he had tricked me saying we were off to dinner for his friend’s birthday.
the proposal.
Harry proposed at sunset on our block of land where we were building our future home.
He had set up a picnic with cheese and dips, my favourite champagne and 7 sunflowers to represent the seven years we had been together.
Afterwards, he surprised me with our closest family and friends for a surprise engagement party. It was perfect!
the venue.
Simon Hackett Winery was the perfect setting for us and we loved everything being at the one venue.
The ceremony backdrop of the vineyards was very picturesque and we loved the relaxed Italian feel of the venue building. We really wanted to create a fun/party environment with yummy food and pops of bright colours throughout. We added little fun details like fireball shots as the guest favours for everyone to cheers to when we entered the reception.
Don’t be influenced by others when planning and making decisions about the big day. Invite who you want to invite, create a menu that you want to eat and spend the time how you want.
Add time into your schedule to just take a moment with your partner. Between all the photos, speeches and chatting with guests - it is easy for the night to fly by without getting to soak it all up with your partner.
wedding songs.

Walking back down the aisle together after we said I do would have to be one of our most favourite moments! We also loved the dancefloor - partying with our family and friends! We absolutely loved our flowers! For the ceremony backdrop and my wedding bouquet we had a mix of beautiful bright red and pink flowers including roses, dahlias and orchids. My bridesmaids had white bouquets. They looked so beautiful!
I actually had a really easy experience finding my dress although it ended up being completely different to what I had originally envisioned. My Hera Couture dress was one of the first I tried on and I fell in love with it right away. I actually found the dress second hand on ‘Still White’ (a website to buy and sell wedding dresses) so ended up helping to keep within my budget too!
Harry had a great experience with his suit too. The team at InStitchu were really helpful and were able to design and tailor the suit specially for him. He even got our initials and our wedding date embroidered on the inside of his suit jacket.
what does marriage mean to you?
Being there for each other through everything. Enjoying the adventures and good times, working as a team, supporting one another and helping each other through the tough times.
For us, we envision married life to be full of fun, lots of date days and making each other laugh and feel loved.
