"We met on a night out with friends when both groups went to sit in the same booth at Maybe Mae. We decided to share the booth and got chatting." Nicolette was looking for part-time hospitality work at the time and Michael was managing the Robin Hood hotel. After Nicolette initially ignored Michael’s emails regarding casual work he eventually stalked her through a mutual friend on Facebook and the rest is history...

"Michael definitely made the first move when we both turned down NYE parties with friends to picnic together at the beach and watch the fireworks." Nicolette shares.

Did you know leading up to it that your partner was going to propose?

Michael organised a Friday night date night to Osteria Oggi for dinner. Something seemed off because he rushed the food service and had us out the door in record time. He suggested a beach walk and ice-cream even though the weather was pretty chilly and popped the question at Henley beach. It was pretty dark and windy and I had a mouthful of ice-cream at the time but we were so excited we went straight to West and drank champagne whilst we facetimed our friends to share the news.

What was the winning factor of your Wedding venue/location?

We visited Bloom for brunch one day as we live just around the corner. We were so impressed by the atmosphere and the delicious food that we knew it would make a great wedding venue. We especially loved the incredible minimalist raw decor and Palm Springs vibes. We loved the idea of one venue for both our ceremony and reception so that the day flowed seamlessly for our guests. We didn’t even bother looking elsewhere!

Bloom was incredibly accommodating from start to finish and made our day extra special. The overwhelming response from our guests was that the food was sensational and they ate and drank until they simply couldn’t fit another bite in!

Your most faaaaave moment...

Meeting before the ceremony for our first look, we both just felt so excited and happy and it was nice to spend time just with our bridal party before the other guests arrived.

Fave Wedding detail...

Bloom is such a stunning venue full of natural light and character (think timber on white and the beautiful eucalyptus painted ceiling). My main requests were toffee roses and white to compliment the building. I’d seen a bride on Instagram with a bouquet of long stemmed toffee roses and was instantly obsessed. We worked the toffee theme into our invites and signage and used amazing terracotta napkins for our table settings.

Classic story you want to share...

We truly had the best day. We met our bridal party at Bloom whilst the restaurant was still trading to get our ‘first look’ photos. Walking past the large windows the patrons all stopped to look and waved at the bridal party as we passed by. They then applauded when we popped the champagne bottles and started the celebrations!

Our ceremony was light and full of laughs just the way we wanted it. And because our photos were already done we transitioned straight into canape and celebration mode when the official business was complete.

The Honeymoon...

We spent an amazing week relaxing on Bedarra Island and exploring the Great Barrier Reef.

If I Could Give Brides to be One Piece of Advice…

Your day, your way! Sit down with your partner and decide on the things that are important to you. For us it was friends, family, food, wine and fun! We wined and dined our nearest and dearest then swapped Gucci shoes for Converse sneakers and had tequila shots on the dance floor!

Wedding songs...

I walked down the aisle to a string quartet version of Sweet Disposition by The Temper Trap which to this day gives me chills whenever I hear it. A song about the ups and downs of life, finding joy in love and living for the moment.

Our first dance was to You Are In Love by Taylor Swift, a song that reminds you of those first moments when you realise you’re falling for someone and the way it fills your heart.
