"For this editorial I worked alongside Megan and Pete - the owners of Gingermegs, a beautiful Port Macquarie based wedding styling business. We collaborated to create and photograph an intimate coastal elopement set-up."

Gingermegs are a lovely husband and wife team who create gorgeous, unforgettable wedding experiences; from floral arrangements to reception decor and everything in between. Being married themselves, they totally understand the potential stress of your big day (whatever you choose to do), and so they’re incredibly caring and understanding when they work with their clients to highlight the beauty of marriage.

Megan and Pete love creating truly unique and unforgettable elopements, parties and weddings, with their mission always being to turn a blank space into an event that embodies love and laughter that truly captures ‘you’.

-- With a mission like that I don’t think there’s anyone who would be more fitted to create a unique elopement experience than these two. Our shoot was centred around the stunning arbours that Megan brought along; a gorgeous set up inspired by simplicity, intimacy and romance.

Our aim was really to showcase how special elopements are - and that just because they may be small and low-key, there doesn’t need to be any compromise on style!

The shoot was located on a secluded little beach, nestled between the rocky shoreline and the vast Pacific Ocean. There was a gorgeous white arbour, which almost looked like it was inspired by those incredible stained windows you find in churches and old architecture, accompanied by some truly beautiful flower arrangements. It tied in amazingly with the surrounds, and you could get a great look past the set-up to the crashing waves just metres away. Hidden, just a few meters away was a beautiful boho, vintage inspired table set up featuring gorgeous contemporary glassware and crockery, flower bouquets and the loveliest arrangement hanging overhead.

This styled shoot was so much fun, and working with Megan and Pete from Gingermegs was just so awesome. Witnessing their styling first hand (especially how they could seamlessly tie in their decor in with the surroundings) definitely set the scene of just what’s possible for an elopement. They’ve actually been so inspired that they’ve started a brand new service you can find them over at Moon & Tide Collective.

It really shows how a blank canvas can be turned into something truly magical.

I hope this shoot provided you with some inspiration of what an elopement could potentially look like, and some comfort in knowing that choosing to elope rather than have a big, extravagant wedding is absolutely an option (and equally as amazing).
