25 wedding guests
Before marrying each other on the stunning Shelly Beach, Sunshine Coast with the sound of waves crashing in the background of their vows, Brooke and Josh were together for 2 years before Josh took Brooke to a quiet lookout after breakfast one morning. "We had the spot to ourselves which is just as well for the ugly cries that followed." Brooke tells.

wedding location.
Our wedding plans were affected by Covid, we initially planned a big wedding with over 100 guests on Josh's family farm. However after postponing for a few months we decided we couldn’t be sure when we would be able to go ahead with those plans, due to the ever changing Covid regulations. So we ultimately decided to do a 180 in our plans and we ended up doing a sunrise beach ceremony with a very small intimate group. Honestly we were so happy with what our day was and couldn’t imagine it any other way now, it suited us being relaxed and laid back.

favourite moment.
We did a first look photoshoot on sunrise, before our ceremony. That was so special to me and made us both feel relaxed to see each other before hand.

what does marriage mean to you?
Our marriage means a real partnership throughout life and all the challenges life brings, we will face together. It’s the support and strength to face those challenges with your other, someone who will have your back and is always in your corner.

classic stories.
My dad was in hospital with an appendicitis a couple of days before hand. Every time a doctor would walk in he’d tell them my daughter’s getting married on Sunday and the doctors pushed him through surgery quite quickly. Dad was able to walk me down the aisle with the help of a few pain killers and only a slight grimace of pain across his lips. Always the way these things happen with the worst timing.
advice.
It’s your day so do something that suits you both and something you enjoy. We are pretty casual, so we chose to have an early morning ceremony. We shared a grazing table breakie with our closest and then when our wedding was finished, Josh and I shared a lunch together. We made a booking for just us, so that we could soak up the morning and have a moment to ourselves. That would be our advice to take some time for yourselves. That can look different depending on what suits you, a first look photoshoot, a drink together before your reception or getting ready together the morning of. Break all traditions and do what feels good for you.

wedding songs.
We didn’t have a first dance due to the casual nature of our beach elopement but we used that song in our wedding video instead as a little tribute. The song is Stay Home by Paul Mcdonald.
standout vendors.
Angela Cannavo was fantastic. She made us feel so relaxed and comfortable, which helped to create beautiful photos and memories of our day. Ang was a help from day one. She met with us multiple times to discuss plans and get a feel for us and our style. She was patient and understanding through Covid with regulation changes and rescheduling. I knew Ang was a fantastic photographer and I had no doubt she would gift us beautiful photos, but I was still amazed at how creative and original her photos were. We truly do cherish our wedding photos.
Tyrone from Forever Features stood out too. He was so excited about the sunrise wedding and he threw himself wholehearted into creating a beautiful video for us. He arrived extra early and took drone footage of the area on sunrise, which added so much to the quality of our video. His excitement and the joy he felt towards his work was so impressive. And he had us caught up in his excitement.
