"We were teenage sweethearts, we met through my best friend, she is actually related to Blade my husband so now I am related to my best friend. The first time we met in person, Blade invited me to his Gatsby Party at the Gold Coast. We just clicked, he says his jaw dropped as soon as I knocked on his front door!"

"We liked each other for 1 year and 8 months as I lived on the Sunshine coast and he lived on the Gold Coast with the two hours difference it wasn't easy - especially since I was 16 at the time I could't even drive to him and we both worked full time. We always say our love makes up for the distance.
the proposal.
Blade took his parents and I on a "drive" after lunch one afternoon we went up to to Syd Duncan Park Beechmont it was a beautiful sunny day. He wrote me a paragraph and read it out to me then got on one knee and opened the box - the ring was gorgeous the way the sun hit it. I couldn't have been happier + we had a picnic after with crackers, cheese and champagne.

the venue.
The weather was cold in July so we wanted something out of the weather and as there was restrictions in place with COVID-19 we were only allowed to have 20 inside so the rest watched along on zoom.
Our reception was special to Blade and I as we had it at the Barber Depot in Bundall where the Gatsby party was held. It's such a gorgeous venue and matched with the theme we were going for. We wanted it to be relaxed.

the theme.
My husband and I both love the 50's and 60's style we were inspired from that but also to have a Gatsby feel but also with a modern spin on it.

favourite moment.
The most favourite part of the day would have been seeing Blade when I walked down the aisle. The big smile on his face, just knowing that I get to spend the rest of my life with him.

The reception venue was also where we met at his Gatsby party so going back there definitely brought back memories!

favourite detail.
My favourite detail about the day would be the spot we chose for photos. Wow! It was a perfect day for it. Blades parents got married in that exact spot and he also proposed to me there which made it pretty special. The reception venue was also where we met at his Gatsby party so going back there definitely brought back memories!

suit + dress shopping experience.
Our dress/ suit shopping was actually really easy. I knew what shape and style is was after and once I tried it on I knew that was the dress. Blade got his blazer custom made at Mj bale in time for the wedding.
what does marriage mean to you?
Marriage is so special to me not only because of my religious beliefs but because I have seen it growing up through my parents, grandparents and even great grandparents. Just the love they show each other is amazing. The many stories they have to tell - some sweet, some funny. Marriage means I get to spend the rest of my life with the person I love by my side.

special moments.
My grandma passed away a month before my wedding at the age of 70 due to a rare disease called CDJ and she was really looking forward to it, I remember how much she loved Blade and wanted the best for us so getting married would've have made her so happy! It makes me tear up to this day! I'm so glad my other grandma was able to make it when she gave me a hug after the ceremony and started to tear up it just make my heart melt.

advice.
The advice I would give to other couple planning a wedding is don't stress! Everything will work out in the end, even if something doesn't work out exactly how you wanted it to it will be perfect because it's your day and on the day it doesn't matter all that important is marrying the person you love most.
