On the 7th August 2020 Maddie and Tom experienced every type of weather over their perfect day – wind, while getting ready, rain just prior to the Ceremony and finally a sunburnt sunset, the perfect way to begin a forever! “As weeks passed, COVID numbers grew and restrictions tightened we became more and more nervous about what changes we would have to make to our day if not having to change the day entirely! We decided to hold off making any big decisions as long as we could and I am so very glad we did! Queensland began it’s road to recovery and we were delighted that our day could still go ahead as planned!”

The couple knew it would be a cooler and possibly rainy day but the smiles and laughter could never be dampened by the weather - it was good luck after all! Preston Peak Functions looks amazing hidden in the hills surrounded by fog – you really should see it for yourself. It was the perfect backdrop and Photographer, Anita of Fennel and Fern Photography took much delight in capturing all the magic! “We are in love with our photos, Anita could not have captured our day more perfectly!”

“Tyneale took care of all things Makeup and Hair – it was really quite windy at that time – but she made sure that Veil wasn’t going anywhere! (Hair 101 – go outside into the wind and test that Veil is secure!) which we did! The guys had the royal treatment with a clean shave and enjoyed a relaxing game of mini golf before heading to Preston Peak.”

As the guests arrived I know some nerves crept in, but thankfully there was a break in the rain. Only moments before being due to walk down the aisle… It held off long enough for Maddie and Tom’s intimate ceremony to take place conducted by the lovely Sara of Aria Vida Ceremonies. Many smiles and happy tears were shared, it was perfect.

The stunning floral touches were executed to perfection by Toowoomba White Wedding and Event Hire, putting the trust and faith in your vendors became really important during COVID as face to face meetings just could not happen, but many emails did! Maddie & Tom were blown away walking into their Reception when they saw all the table styling and floral arrangements. “I want to mention the intricate work and detail of Lee Volk Jewellers to create our dream Wedding Ring and Band was second to none, also to the lovely Mariana at Sweethearts Bridal Boutique – she spent hours helping us find THE dress.”

“The amazing planners at Preston Peak Functions (Bree and Matty) were there every second of our day. Everything ran seamlessly, no request was ever too much and we will always be grateful to them for making sure our day was stress free and amazing!” COVID restrictions meant no dancing (except for the Bride and Groom dance) could take place but the fabulous Fibonacci Band set an amazing atmosphere, “I’m really not sure if anyone actually missed the dancing part!”

As the Hair/Makeup Artist, my part was complete in the early stages of this perfect day but it was so lovely to catch up with Maddie and hear about all the special moments and details. Through COVID Wedding Professionals have supported their couples in many different and extra ways – it is such an emotional journey! A beautiful emotional journey! Maddie’s part words to me were, “We can not thank our Vendors enough! Our perfect day would not have been possible or what it was without them!”

The Bride's Favourite moment of the day: I kept my Gown a complete surprise for both Tom and my Dad. My favourite moment was sharing these first look moments with them. It was very emotional but full of excitement too!

The Grooms Favourite moment of the day: My favourite moment of the day was seeing Maddie, my beautiful Bride walk down the aisle!

“We took a moment together during our Reception to look around the room at observe our nearest and dearest sharing our perfect day. It made us realise how lucky we are! Our Wedding was still able to go ahead (even in the middle of a pandemic) – which was a pretty amazing achievement in itself! We will be reflecting on these special moments for the rest of our lives. Our day was truly perfect.”
