Newcastle based wedding legends recreate a Byron Bay feel with tropical palms and a kombi campervan. "I wanted a touch of luxe so we chose a sequin mini dress by Goldies Dress Hire. The sequin mini really made the shoot feel formal but fun, it tied in perfectly." shares Kayla of Luna Wilde Photography.

highlights: The location we shot in was a dirt road leading to a secluded beach, we thought it would be quiet on a rainy afternoon but it actually turned out to be perfect whale watching weather so the road was extremely busy. Our florist Holly’s partner Joe doubled as tour guide / traffic controller.

There was a family with a photographer out on a family shoot who saw the setup and asked if they could borrow the backdrop for 5 minutes. So there are family photos floating around with an amazing styled kombi as their backdrop now in their photos forever.

Did you face any challenges on the day? Only the traffic on the meant to be quiet road. Joe jumped in to move the sticky beaks on and keep the cars moving, he had a fedora on and boots so he actually looked like some kind of tour guide, we made a lot of jokes about him charging cars for a private tour.

What led you to decide on this shoot location? We wanted a Byron Bay vibe, something different to the usual style of shoot you see in Newcastle. We’ve had tonnes of messages asking about the location and even people wanting to hire the kombi for their own styled shoots. We’re keeping this as an original shoot so the kombi was a one off appearance (for now)

Favourite detail: Being the middle of COVID where flower prices are insane, Holly from Holly Howe Florals foraged for every piece of greenery and florals from her parents property. The floral arrangement was so natural and beautiful.
