NADINE X CHRIS

wedding date 4 august 2019
50 guests

Snow bunnies + high school sweethearts, Nadine and Chris went to the same school and were together for seven years before Chris proposed in Fiji after Nadine's best friends wedding. Both knew they wanted to have their wedding in the snow but weren't sure exactly where.  After visiting several wedding venues, they chose the QT Falls Creek.

favourite moment of the day: Our first dance. We practiced so much but we still didn’t get it exactly right. No one noticed though. I remember Chris whispering in my ear “I’m going to dip you now, be ready”.

favourite detail about the day: The food was amazing, geez QT Falls creek can put on a spread. No-one complained as it had it all, steak, pork belly, seafood, sweets. It didn’t even matter that the cake was late because the food was so good no one noticed!

how was your dress/suit shopping experience overall? I actually bought it before we chose the venue. I went to one shop and found it Belles & Beaux in Newcastle. Easiest shop ever, I’m not a fan of clothes shopping.

what does marriage mean to you? For me it was to have my family and close friends come together to have a holiday at the snow and party. Most of the wedding party stayed in a beautiful apartment so it was very much like that. I asked Chris and he said “a Life sentence”… Really funny Chris!

any classic stories you want to share from the day?
Well I had a very relaxed and chilled morning on the morning of the ‘Big Day’. When Chris and I were married and went up the chair lift to get photos Chris turned to me and ask “So how was your morning?” I went ahead and said how great my morning was with wine and cheeses and baked goods. We ran ahead of time!

Chris then turned to me and said “well let me tell you about my morning!” he then proceeded to tell me that the boys were not ready by the time Zelda got there because one of the groomsmen forgot their pants!” It was so funny, but I couldn’t laugh as I could tell he wasn’t impressed. The groomsmen had to borrow the pants of the MC and the MC borrowed the pants of one of our guests. What a strange and stressful morning. Haha!

This groomsmen did ask me if we went back in time and changed the past so he would have remembered his pants would I have told him to get them? I said no, it put a funny spin on the day and it gives me something to say when people ask me “did anything not go to plan?”.

He also dressed in his full groomsmen suit to our end of the year Soccer presentation! Better late than never!

advice: If you’re not a creative sole like me, look at pintrest and Instagram for inspiration. Ask your friends and family for help – my Grandma made my bouquets and got the supplies from Spotlight. They turned out perfect and no one noticed. Also budget where you can, but where you can’t, don’t. For me that was my wedding dress.

stand out vendors for the day:
Zelda Green Photographer – she surprised us and bought us tickets up the mountains for our photos. They turned out amazing because of her!

QT Falls Creek – Best food ever! Even the breakfast there the next day was amazing.

Rachel Mead – Hair and Makeup. – My hair and make-up were perfect! All the girls were so happy with their makeup hair. You usually have one person who has a winge, but no, not this time, everyone was so happy. They all looked beautiful. She made my morning so easy, with her calm and positive nature.

Bruce Kilpatrick – Celebrant – He did an amazing job! Lots of my guests said that he brought emphasis and life to Chris and I's story, making it funny and entertaining.

People were hanging on his every word. He was also very patient with Chris and I. I asked lots of questions, some I asked twice and he also sat on the phone with me for 1-2 hours before the day of the wedding to go through the celebrant speech word by word.
