"Shans' the only person who has ever given me butterflies"

How did the two of you meet? My fiancé and I have known each other and been friends since we were 16, I always had the biggest crush on Shan but didn’t act on it at the time and totally didn’t realise the feelings were mutual or I would of for sure. Ten years later, we reconnected at Shans brothers wedding - we were both in the bridal party + we became inseparable as friends again. It was almost beyond our control, we fell in love - Shans the only person who has ever given me butterflies and still does to this day everytime I look at him. We could not imagine a life without each other.

How long were you together before the proposal? Shannon actually brought the ring three months after us being together, and we were engaged and had brought a house within six months. It felt natural for us to promise ourselves to each other.

Please tell us about the proposal: We were having a night at home together, dancing in our lounge room to some of our favourite music. To my complete surprise, Shan was on one knee asking me to marry him. I had no hesitation in screaming - YESSS!

What was the inspiration behind your engagement shoot concept? We are both in love with boho and rustic themes! So everything was natural lighting, rustic and boho decor lots of large chalk boards, pallet bars, bulb lighting - which made Ayzia the perfect photographer for us as I feel she excels in capturing the raw good vibes of any occasion - using the natural lighting in the photos to get the real rustic effect.

What were some of the highlights you had during the shoot: The shoot was actually effortless, I thought it would have been harder to capture. I definitely never expected the photos we received - my jaw actually dropped! And there were definitely tears of joy. A highlight was the sun going down - it just made us glow which totally represented how we were feeling about the night and our engagement - we were glowing with excitement and overwhelming happiness.

What is your favourite detail about the shoot? Ayzia captured the way we look at each other and the love we have for each other. I also absolutely love that we didn’t need a backdrop it was literally just a field of grass, some water and absolutely nothing fancy so Shan + I were all that is in the photo - just a really simple natural backdrop. I think that meant that our expressions, outfit and the way Ayzia had us posing for the images is what shines through.

Favourite moments: The photos were so much fun! Also, the speeches were just amazing having all our friends and family together celebrating, joining our lives together - the night was perfect! We were so grateful at the turnout for our special night.
