Designed to speak to the wide eyes of a modern couple - We wanted to intercept the imagination of the Fun Lovers, the Entertainers, the Partygoers - couples who want their wedding to be just as wild and wonderful as they are! We brought in vendors like Boozy Suzie Caravan Bar, who uses the alcohol clients provide to design their own signature cocktail, Zolotas Australia, who designs one-of-a-kind, handmade, boho wedding gowns from GREECE! A quirky Marriage Celebrant, Loz, from Hungry Hearts Co, who literally makes best buds with the couple so that their entire ceremony is spoken in their language and Monty from Holymatrimonty, the absolute dream for any couple wanting a ceremony written completely from scratch or their audience whipped into shape (literally), plus Wish Boutique Stationery... who moves and shakes any which way to make sure the couple’s theme is matched through every touch point. We wanted to challenge the stigma around what a wedding SHOULD look like and show off how unique it CAN be.

Did you face any challenges on the day? If so, how did you overcome them?
It was unusually windy. Wind here, wind there – we couldn’t escape it! BUT, just like a real wedding, we made the most of every opportunity. Gloss Girl, our hair and makeup artist, was straight onto it with remodelling Dani’s hair, The Wedding Designers changed up the scene to be breeze-friendly and the couple was too busy cracking up at the Photographer, Rhys, from Hungry Hearts Co, to worry about what was going on in other news. The team was super flexible and adaptable. Enjoying your wedding for what it is, rather than what you expected it to be always makes the experience a zillion times better.

What led you to decide on this venue/shoot location?
Stanley Park is one of Newcastle’s favourite wedding venues. There’s a vintage/rustic vibe throughout the space, yet it’s presented so elegantly. It’s really the best of both worlds, with uninterrupted water views AND rolling green acres (drool). You’ve also a got a perfectly kept, historical mansion, paired with a wide-open barn. There’s something to take up space in the hearts of every couple.

Jas, the owner, encourages every one of her couples to do their wedding, their way, by allowing them to bring in their favourite vendors. She literally gives them a blank canvas and says, here, make your art - regardless of what that looks like or who it involves. This really allows couples to define their wedding, the way the want to. There are not limitations – each wedding is unique as the relationship it celebrates. We think that’s pretty special!

What was your favourite detail about the shoot day?
The colour palette of the shoot matched the tone of the afternoon perfectly. Rundle Tailoring sculpted the groom in a dapper cream linen suit to match Zolotas gorgeous ivory dress, which complimented the relaxed vibe of the couple. The classic whites wrapped in the peachy and timber details of Boozy Suzie were synonymous of the chilled atmosphere we were working with. Plus, the epic vintage lounges from Whimsical Fox Events shone some light on the character of the group, a real bunch of gigglers.

Favourite moment/s from the day:
Rhys isn’t a directional Photographer – he’s more of a fly on the wall. He’ll ask questions or suggest activities, but ultimately encourages couples to do with that, what they please. Rhys loves capturing the essence of any couple’s romance – he thrives on seeing them comfortable and in their element. At one stage, he asked team ‘Dandy’ to dance. Just dance. There was music, so we all egged them on! Mid boogie -as if it was planned, Andy tilted Dani backwards and they locked lips for what felt like one hundred seconds. It was definitely a crowd favourite.
