WEDDING INVITATION CHECKLIST | FEATURING INK HEARTS PAPER DESIGNS MELBOURNE

WEDDING STATIONERY INVITATIONS SAVE THE DATES RSVPS
As one of the most important occasions in your life, a wedding should be a reflection of the bride and groom’s personality in every way possible. Gone are the days when weddings and wedding invitations were required to reflect as much posh as something straight out of the Royal Palace.

However, whatever your wedding invitation design, the thing to remember is to make sure your wedding invites check off all of the important information for your guests.

#1: Who is getting married!
It’s equally as straightforward and surprising at how many people forget this basic information.

- If you are including your parents’ full names on your wedding invites, then you can leave off your surnames.

- If you decide to leave off your parents’ names, then make sure you include your surnames. This is particularly important for people with a huge invite list as not everyone loves a guessing game.

#2 What are we celebrating?
Your guests receive a beautifully designed wedding invitation in their mailbox, but surprisingly, the bride and groom forget to mention it’s actually their wedding that they are celebrating! Come celebrate with Jack and Jill at X place on this date, won’t really cut it. You need to spell out somewhere that it is a wedding people are being invited to.

Some easy ways to depict this is wording like:
- At the marriage of
- Exchanging wedding vows at
- To celebrate the wedding of

#3 Where?
We suggest including the full address of the wedding venue; venue name, street address and suburb. This covers those guests who are not familiar with ‘Versace Hotel, Main Beach’ and saves guests the effort in having to search for the location themselves.

#4 When to be there?
A traditional wedding invitation will include wording “in the morning”, “in the evening”, etc, just like the sample below from Ink Hearts Paper. On the other hand, contemporary wedding invitation wording includes AM and PM to depict the time of day instead. Whichever you choose don’t forget to include this pertinent info. Unless there is a large gap between ceremony and reception, you don’t need to include a reception start time either.

#5 RSVP
This should be governed by supplier requirements for final numbers, allowing yourself flexibility if you want to invite others in replace of those who cannot make it. When to respond and to whom; advertise both phone and email details just to be safe.
