Combining an elegant rustic feel with a touch of blush...

What was the inspiration behind this shoot concept?
The deck of Elmswood Estate was my inspiration. As you will see in the photos, the views are just stunning. I wanted to create a styled shoot that had the rustic feel yet plenty of elegance with a touch of blush showcasing this spectacular view. I wanted to combine these elements and tell the story.

Who does not blush on their wedding day when they have to share their love with friends and family? My touch of blush was the fabric used on tables, chairs at the ceremony and on the dessert station. Harper & Grace Design styled the arch with beautiful simple, native, flower elements as it had the backdrop as a showstopper.

What are some of the highlights you had during the shoot process:
The highlight was to do the suspended dessert station. I did not want to reinvent the wheel but give it a different twist. I simply loved the barn backdrop, perfect to compliment the white wooden ladders and the desserts and biscuits in blush tones.

Did you face any challenges on the day?
The biggest challenge was to stick to our shooting plan as more and more ideas were coming out and it felt that we will not have time to do them all. I was so happy to have a team of great people next to me, creative with so much to offer.

What led you to decide on this venue?
One industry colleague mentioned this venue one day and how it is just breathtaking. This interested me and having discussed with Vinh from Full de Bloom about organising a styled shoot, we went and visited it and knew on the spot that this is the place to do it. It can be used for ceremony, cocktail hour or even reception as their Pavilion opens up.

Jeannie the owner and Karen the Venue Manager are just amazing to work with and anyone would feel that, the first moment they visit the estate. Their hospitality skills are next level. P.S. Their wines are delicious too! If you have not tried them, it’s a must!

What was your favourite detail about the shoot day?
The wine station, in particular the wooden cart brought by Kelly Anne Events. It’s just stunning. It can be used in so many ways like dessert station, wishing well, gift table or wine station like we did. It has a special elegance. Don’t you think?

Besides that, the cake done by Vyndia Cakes had a massive wow factor. So rustic, yet elegant and even though it looks like real wood, it is all made of cake. I remember all of us looking at it and asking if it’s real or fake. It was all real. What a talent.

Favourite moment/s from the day:
My favourite moments of the day were the following:

- Styling the suspended dessert station. It was something I really wanted to be able to do and I was over the moon to see it being done.

- Even though we did not have a bride and groom, we had the most beautiful, happy little flower girls that just expressed the emotion of a wedding day through their innocence and energy. I mean, look at them!

- Working with Tizia May and her expertise on lighting - sunset, golden hour plus all the tricks that a professional photographer has to get the best outcome of an image and styling session.
